Work-Based Learning is career awareness, exploration, work experience, structured training and/or mentoring at the work-site. Students are able to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the classroom to real tasks performed in the workplace.
There are Work-Based Learning activities appropriate for every grade level that supports students in developing career awareness, exploring career options, developing appropriate workplace skills, and relating academic skills to real-world applications. These activities may include but are not limited to:
Career Fairs Job Shadows Cooperative Work Experiences Internships Field Studies Externships/Clinicals Guest Speakers Apprenticeships Informational Interviews Service Learning/Volunteer Work School-Based Enterprises
